What is chakra

Chakras are the main energy centers in our body. The meaning of the word chakra in Sanskrit means “wheel,” and the name came to describe the shape of the energy center. Our main energy centers sit along the length of the spine, or to be more accurate, along the Shushumna nadi (the main energy channel) and are nourished by Prana (life energy) that runs through the channel. Life energy carries vital information that passes through all of the chakras, which then process the information according to various characteristics. The processed information received from each chakra contributes directly to our experience and perception of reality. Each chakra is linked to a specific color, feature, element, and region of the body or hormonal gland.
