Mudra

Mudra is the hand position while practicing or during meditation. Different mudras lead the flow of energy along specific pathways with an emphasis on certain areas of the body and brain, depending on the type of mudra. Each area of the hand is linked to an area on the physical body or emotional center, and each mudra creates energy flow or stimulates the area or quality which is directed by controlled pressing of nerve points in the hand.
Common Mudras in Kundalini Yoga
 

Gyan Mudra—The Seal of Knowledge
How To: Touch the tip of your thumb to the
tip of your index finger,
the other fingers remain straight.
This Mudra stimulates knowledge, wisdom,
openness, and relaxation.
Planet related to the mudra: Jupiter
Feature: Expansion
Shuni Mudra—The Seal of Patience
How To: Touch the tip of your thumb to the
tip of your middle finger,
three other fingers remain straight.
This Mudra stimulates patience, discernment, and commitment.
Planet related to the mudra: Saturn
Feature: Taking responsibility and courage
 

Surya Mudra—The Seal of Life, The Sun
How To: Touch with the middle finger (third finger)
to the tip of the thumb,
the three other fingers remain straight.
This Mudra renews energy and brings vitality
and good health.

Uranus feature: Intuition, neural resilience, change

Buddhi Mudra—The Seal of Mental Clarity
How To: Touch the tip of the little finger
with the tip of the thumb,
the three other fingers remain straight.
This Mudra creates the ability to communicate clearly
and intuitively. allows a person to express
his truth and stimulates mental development.
Planet related to the mudra: Mercury
Feature: Agility, communication ability

Venus Lock
How To: Interlace fingers with
the right thumb over the left for men
and the left over the right for women.
This Mudra balances sexual energy
and helps focus and concentration.
One of the modifications of this Mudra
is when both of the index fingers are straight
and pulled together,
with the other fingers still interlaced.
This modification is used when practicing “Sat Kriya
– One of the most important meditations in Kundalini yoga.
Pranam Mudra— The Seal of Prayer
How To: Press the palms together in front of the chest center,
thumbs are pressed against the chest,
elbows and chest open.
This Mudra produces a balance in the magnetic field
between the feminine and masculine poles
and between the left side and right sides of the brain.
The pressure of the thumbs on the upper part of the chest
stimulates the Pineal and Pituitary glands
producing a resonance that opens a space for
Meditation and Prayer that comes from the Heart.
Bear Grip 
How To: Put the left hand in front of the chest with palm facing
away from the body and thumb down.
Slide your right hand in front of the left with thumb facing up.
Fold the fingers of both hands together,
creating a grip, both hands joining into a fist.
The thumbs remain released,
covering the top and bottom of the fist.
This Mudra helps to open the heart center and
promotes concentration.
